Chief Cooma Celebrates Ubunthu Enablers at Five Years, Calls for Expansion of Women’s Goat Project
As Ubunthu Enablers celebrates five years of operation, His Royal Highness Chief Cooma has congratulated the organization for its commitment to community development, commending its leadership and the positive impact of its interventions in his chiefdom.
In his message marking the organization’s fifth anniversary, Chief Cooma expressed happiness with Ubunthu’s presence in his chiefdom, encouraging the organization to continue working hard and empowering communities through sustainable livelihood initiatives.
The traditional leader specifically highlighted Ubunthu’s Goat Project, which is empowering women through goat rearing, describing it as a practical initiative that women can manage while attending to their other responsibilities. He called for the project to continue and proposed its expansion to more remote areas within his chiefdom so that additional communities could benefit.
Recalling the project’s expansion, Chief Cooma noted that when the initiative was initially implemented in Kazungula, he requested that it also be introduced in Choma. He expressed appreciation that Ubunthu responded positively to his request, extending the project to communities in his chiefdom.
Chief Cooma further pledged his support for the initiative, committing to visit the cooperatives that have benefited from the project to encourage them and follow up on their progress. His commitment underscores the important role of traditional leadership in promoting community ownership and ensuring the sustainability of development programmes.
As Ubunthu marks five years of operation, Chief Cooma wished the organization continued success and pledged to maintain his collaboration with it. His message reaffirms the importance of partnerships between traditional leaders and development organizations in advancing community empowerment, improving livelihoods and creating sustainable opportunities for women in rural communities.
