Ubunthu Enablers was founded by a group of German & Zambian entrepreneurs, and governance and human rights experts. Ubunthu is a private not-for-profit organization with the vision to support progress in Zambia.

Ubunthu Enablers

Ubunthu Enablers (Ubunthu Zambia) is a Zambian not-for-profit organization registered in 2021.

The founders are a unique group of German & Zambian entrepreneurs, governance and human rights experts who among other things wanted to respond to high levels of poverty, unemployment, observed human rights violations and other social injustices happening in the communities of Zambia where women and the youths were seen to be the main victims.

Ubunthu seeks to reduce poverty and improve the respect of human rights, democratic governance, and accountability through through advocacy and other evidence-based interventions that guarantee productivity, sustainability and dignity.

Currently, the organization has 2 Project Divisions namely Community Projects and Business Projects.

Key Objectives:

  • To contribute to poverty reduction through a well-researched, evidence-based and people-cantered economic development approach that guarantees productivity, sustainability and dignity.
  • Lobby for engagement, consultation and participation of women and youth in processes that determine quality gender-responsive public services (health, agriculture, education, water and sanitation).
  • To strengthen civic participation including accountability at the local (ward & constituency), district, provincial and national levels as provided for in the Zambian decentralization plan.
  • Ubunthu also works with entrepreneurs mainly young people and women, both individuals and groups to make sure they utilize the available economic opportunities in Zambia and are adequately equipped with the necessary skills needed to effectively manage their businesses. This is done through providing free training and linking entrepreneurs with experts for coaching, and also Ubunthu supports partners through free business skills training.

Depending on individual needs, Ubunthu provides free expert training. Management know-how is shared to develop robust business strategies and marketing plans, to advise on organizational development or provide leadership training
