Evaluating Impact: Ubunthu EnACT Project

In the pursuit of creating positive change and fostering community development, the Ubunthu ACtVE Project funded under GIZ Enabling Access to Justice, Civil Society Participation, and Transparency (EnACT) recently underwent a comprehensive Results-Oriented Monitoring (ROM) exercise. This evaluation, spearheaded by a contracted consultant from the European Union, aimed to assess the effectiveness and impact of collaborative efforts with Ubunthu.

The ROM exercise, conducted on February 22, 2024, encompassed a multifaceted approach to evaluating the EnACT funded project. Beginning with an in-depth performance evaluation, the consultant meticulously examined project documentation and key performance indicators to gauge progress against established goals and objectives. This thorough review would provide valuable insights into the achievements of the project thus far, while also pinpointing areas ripe for improvement that will be shared with Ubunthu for future learnings.

One of the focal points of the evaluation was the impact assessment, which sought to measure the tangible benefits of the EnACT funded project on its target beneficiaries and the broader community. Through interviews, focus group discussions, and site visits to the Mbabala community, the consultant gained firsthand insights into the transformative effects of the project.

Looking ahead, the findings of the ROM exercise will be shared with Ubunthu and will play a pivotal role in shaping strategic planning efforts for future projects.
