Activating Citizen Voices for Education

The Activating Citizen Voices for Education project which is supported by the Federal Republic of Germany and co-financed by the European Union under the “Enabling Access to Justice, Civil Society Participation, and Transparency (EnACT) Program, seeks to enhance the participation of citizens in governance and the fight against corruption for effective public finance management in the education sector.

The project is being implemented in 8 wards of both Mbabala & Choma Central in Choma District for 6 months ( August 2023 – January 2024).

The Activating Citizen Voices for Education Project aims to address critical challenges in Zambia’s education sector by promoting active citizen engagement and oversight. It seeks to equip communities with skills and knowledge on how to monitor public resources and participate in monitoring the utilization of public resources specifically CDF using the anti-corruption lens.

Some of the Project Activities include training of community members in Social Accountability as well as conducting Budget Tracking and Monitoring in selected schools in the target wards.

Ubunthu’s collective goal under this project is to empower citizens to become strong advocates for transparency, accountability, and good governance in education.
